Overview

The Haruna Dairy Cooperatives is the collective name for a specialized dairy cooperative organization serving the territory of the cities of Takasaki and Shibukawa and Kitagunma District in central Gunma Prefecture. This territory is an intermediate flat zone at the foot of Mt. Haruna, one of the Three Famous Mountains of Gunma. In 1956, it was designated the Mt. Haruna foothills dairy farming district by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (now the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries).
The Haruna Dairy Cooperatives are involved in all stages of the dairy farming and creamery businesses from management guidance for dairy farmers through the production and sale of milk, dairy products, and dessert products.

1956
Established upon investment by 38 members of 37 general agricultural cooperatives and Takasaki Ham.
1974
Direct sales of Haruna Milk from the producer region began.
1975
Milk sales expanded to the greater Tokyo area.
1979
Milk factory constructed at the head office site (Koyagimachi, Takasaki).
1987
Acquired a site in Ashikado Industrial Park in Ashikadomachi, Takasaki (formerly Ashikado, Gunma) (Ashikado Center).
1992
Haruna Chokuhan K.K. established through the spinoff of the Haruna Dairy Cooperatives' sales section to strengthen sales of dairy products.
1994
New head office built at the current site.
1999
Milk factory earns HACCP certification for three products of milk, processed milk, and dairy beverages.
2001
The Desserts factory relocated to Ashikadomachi, Takasaki, and expanded.
2006
The Desserts factory earns HACCP certification for cultured milk products.
2007
ISO 9001 certification earned.
2011
Milk factory filling machinery updated; all lines converted to ESL.
2017
Milk factory and the Desserts factory earn SQF certification.
